Home lost when cardboard near fireplace ignites
A 90-year-old lady safely escaped a flame in her east Vancouver home early Saturday morning. The flame started inside her home at 4607 N.E. 38th St., just off state Highway 500, as she was lighting a flame in her fireplace and sparks ignited a nearby cardboard box, said Vancouver firefighter-spokesman Chris Moen.

Fire broke out at 6 a.m. as the lady was lighting a flame in her fireplace at her home in the 4600 block of Northeast 38th road, said Chris Moen, Vancouver flame Department spokesman. Sparks from the flame ignited a nearby cardboard box.
